Tree Plantation on Friendship Day

Our world’s plant life is often ignored and misunderstood. Most people don’t regard trees and plants as living creatures, but rather as simple backgrounds for their lives. In reality, the world of plants is just as alive as ours, as they grow, fight for resources, conquer locations, fight off predators, create counters for pests, attract pollinators, and perform several other actions. Plants are also the reason animals are able to survive on our planet. Trees and algae provide us with all the oxygen we need for breathing, and when they are cut down or burned, the balance in the atmosphere also takes a hit and causes diseases in the animal life of the area.

In today’s pollution-filled world, it is very important for people to focus their efforts on caring for our existing trees while also planting more. This is the only path towards our salvation from a complete environmental disaster and ecological failure. However, with increased urbanization and residential construction, there are very few forests left and not a lot of empty land for planting more trees.

However, Help2Educate Foundation doesn’t quit when things get hard, and we took upon the challenge of helping the environment just a little bit by planting 750 saplings on this Friendship Day. For the mission, we traveled to Basavakalyan Taluka on August 1, 2021, with the saplings and some shovels. There was plenty of land in the village to support 750 grown oak trees and the people were also very supportive of the move. The real challenge was planting the trees in a way that would allow them to survive over the years instead of dying early on in their lives.

Mr. Venkatesh s m suggested planting the saplings with a prepared nourishment pod in the soil which would include all the right amounts of organic fertilizers that a young sapling would need in order to grow tall. The village already has an abundance of rainfall, and hence we didn’t need to worry about them getting enough water over the years. In the worst-case scenario, the villagers promised to water the saplings, however, we didn’t want to burden the locals with our tasks and hence made sure that everything would work out as per plan.

In the end, we planted all 750 saplings in what would turn out to be one of our most memorable experiences as a team. Each member felt a closer connection to Mother Earth at the moment and pledged to make a few lifestyle changes that would benefit the environment. Help2Educate Foundation loves caring for children, and we understand the value the environment holds for them. We are happy to report that our conservation attempts were quite successful and we can’t wait to see the full results when the trees grow up.
